PowerStar Densifying Treatments
Raw or polished concrete is very porous and brittle. Even after grinding and polishing operations, tiny pores in the material can trap dirt and allow water to penetrate the surface.
PowerStar offers a complete family of densifying treatments to meet the needs of any facility. From projects with the tightest budgets to those that demand maximum performance, PowerStar has a formulation to meet the needs of the most discerning customers.
PowerStar densifying treatments are typically made of silica compounds that molecularly change the properties of concrete making the material harder and less porous. Harder concrete lasts longer and eliminates dusting effects from foot and vehicle traffic. Decreasing the porosity of concrete means it absorbs less water, resists permanent staining and provides a durable, low maintenance surface.
Four types of silica compounds are used to harden concrete - Sodium, Potassium, Lithium and Amorphous Silica. The effectiveness of these compounds is directly related to the size of its molecules. A compound with a smaller molecular structure is more effective and usually costs more. The floor care professional must weigh the cost and performance of each product to determine which treatment is best.
